Medigap

  • Medigap is the health insurance coverage brought by an individual to pay costs not covered by original medicare.
  • Medigap is the medicare supplemental plan which is always secondary to primary insurance medicare that pays not covered costs of medicare such as deductibles, coinsurance, co-payments, and other services.
  • Medigap policy is offered by private companies and member needs to pay a monthly premium for it.
  • Medigap policy is only available to persons who have Medicare part A and Medicare Part B coverage.
  • Medigap policy is not available to persons who have Medicare Advantage plan.
  • Medigap policy only covers one person and does not cover dependents. To cover dependents, the member needs to buy another Medigap policy.
  • Medigap policy does not cover long-term care, vision, dental care, hearing aids, eyeglasses, or private nursing.
