BCBS of TX - Claim Status Inquiry

  • BCBS of Texas representative does not provide claim status on call.
  • You should have the denial reason and claim# to get further clarification on the call.
  • If you do not have a claim# or denial reason then you can find it on the Availity web portal.
  • Sometimes the denial reason that we have, does not match the reason that the representative has then you will need the find out the correct reason through the Availity Web portal.
  • On the Availity portal, under the 'Claim' tab you will get the 'Claim Reconciliation Tool' option where you can enter the billing provider NPI# and policy ID/Claim# to obtain the status.
  • Claim# is a 13-digit alphanumeric number whereas the 13th digit is a letter.
  • If you do not have a claim# and are unable to pull the claim with the policy ID then to find out the correct claim#, use the option 'Status Inquiry' under the 'Claim' tab.
  • In this tab, you will need to select BCBS of TX insurance then enter billing provider NPI, patient policy ID, name, DOB, and DOS then you will get the status with a brief description along with the claim#.
  • Use this claim# on the 'Claim Reconciliation Tool' to obtain correct and complete information.
