Medicare Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Medicare, an individual must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident for at least five continuous years and also meet at least one of the following Medicare eligibility criteria:

    1. An individual's age must be 65 or above.

    2. An individual who is permanently disabled and receive disability benefits for at least two years.

    3. An Individual who has an end-stage renal disease (ESRD), or permanent kidney failure that requires dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant.

    4. An individual who paid Medicare taxes while working for at least 10 years or 40 quarters.

    1. For QMB policy, there must be Medicaid policy as secondary insurance. You should bill the claim to medicaid.
