CPT 86769 - Immunoassay for infectious agent antibody, qualitative or semiquantitative, multiple-step method, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) :
- The American Medical Association approved the new CPT - 87635 to report laboratory testing services that diagnose the presence of the novel Coronavirus since COVID-19 increases in the United State.
- It would help to track and report COVID-19 tests in United State.
- It becomes effective on 13th March 2020.
CPT 86769 - Immunoassay for infectious agent antibody, qualitative or semiquantitative, multiple-step method, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) :
- On 10th April 2020, the AMA includes these 2 additional CPTs to report cases when the patient receives blood tests that detect COVID-19 antibodies.
- CPT 86328 is established for antibody tests using a single-step method immunoassay.
- CPT 86769 is established for antibody tests using a multiple-step method.
- The reimbursement amount for these CPTs has not been established and the provider needs to contact the payer for reimbursement amount.
