Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina : COVID-19 Updates for Members

• BCBS of SC is covering the cost of COVID-19 testing for their members and waiving out-of-pocket expenses for in-network treatment through June 1st.

• BCBS of SC is waiving prior authorization requirements for diagnostic tests and covering services that are medically necessary and consistent with CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidance for members diagnosed with COVID-19.

• BCBS of SC is also providing coverage for TELEHEALTH services that allow members to take the services without visiting a doctor's office via phone or audio/video systems.

• BCBS of SC is offering health insurance coverage with GOLD, SILVER & BRONZE plans who lost coverage due to COVID-19-related job loss with minimum premium.

• The CDC has made test kits available for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environment Control Public Health Laboratory to test for COVID-19. Testing in South Carolina must be coordinated through SCDHEC.
