Medicare - E&M Service Rule
- Evaluation & Management Services CPT codes range from 99202 to 99499.
- Medicare only pays one E&M code in a day performed by a physician of a group.
- Medicare does not pay another E&M code of the same day performed by the same or different physicians of similar specialties of the same group.
- Another E&M code needs to be written off once one E&M code is already paid by Medicare.

ReplyDeleteIf the group is different then it will get paid until there is any other issue.
DeleteIt is only for simple Medicare or for advantage plans also?
ReplyDeleteMedicare Advantage plans follow the same rules and guidelines as Medicare. But, they can have their own policies too. So, it's better to confirm with the insurance once.
